Selva LLC introduced advanced control concepts in the existing DCS system for a 400MW 2800PSIG gas-fired boiler. The plant, which operates as a peaker, was previously ramping at 4 MW/min. The superheat temperature swing was +/- 30 °F in steady state and could worsen to +/- 60 °F during ramping.
Using our advanced control strategies, the plant achieved a ramp rate of 6 MW/min, and the superheat temperature swing improved to +/- 4 °F in steady state and less than +/- 15 °F during aggressive ramping.
We study plant response, evaluate requirements, and provide robust control solutions for startup, shutdown, and normal load operations. Our expertise has helped clients enhance stability, optimize plant performance, save energy, and gain advantage in aggressive power trading environments.
